Senior Social Media Manager, Barkbox


This is a Full-time position in Columbus, OH posted November 22, 2021.


BARK’s social team is responsible for creating perpetually fresh content that entertains, engages, and educates potential and current customers on the magic of dogs and BARK.

Using all of the storytelling mediums (user-generated content, social media as a whole, PR, video, photography, the products themselves) at our disposal, the social team brings BARK’s dog-obsessed antics to the public.

(Occasionally in ways that are accidentally and not-so-accidentally spicy.) Successes on this team are usually unconventional and have enormous payoffs for social engagement, PR, sales, and overall awareness of BARK.

This person is in charge of the larger limit-pushing strategy & execution for the BarkBox social media profiles.

Make BARK look cool in the world, make people think we are clever, funny, humans who love to make dogs happy.

Responsible for advertising our company in a way that doesn’t feel like advertising.

This person will work together with creative and design teams to create narratives around our toys that will spark something weird and wild in the world of the Internet.

Communicate company values to the rest of the world.

Strive to maintain a cohesive voice throughout all sides of BARK.


  • BarkBox Social: 
    • All BarkBox Social: Establish & implement strategy, conceptualize and create organic social posts and stories for all social handles at BARK. 
    • Analyze topline performance for all BarkBox channels, quickly pivot strategies based on takeaways 
    • Evolve and explore (by constantly testing) what BarkBox’s brand voice & style should be.


      Make our customers feel special and included in the content creation process. 

    • Own the calendars and direction of the BarkBox Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter social calendars, report back on weekly metrics
    • Manage BarkBox Associate to help create top notch best-in-class social media content
    • Be a thought leader in the larger social media and marketing industries representing BARK
  • BarkBox Product Narratives: 
    • Work with Box creative and content strategists to create a regular cadence of Instagram Stories, Tweets, inline posts, and customer regrams that highlight the magic of our products. 
    • Participate in crafting & executing the social plan for large partnerships across all business lines
  • Influencer Outreach and Strategy:
    • Work with BarkBox Associate to mine & choose dog accounts that fit the BarkBox vibe and collaborate to provide exchange of content/features in exchange for product.
  • Community Management:
    • Manage the lines of communication and collaboration between Organic and Paid and Happy teams to create ads and content that preserve the BARK wink and attempt to create more *explosive* moments.
      • Oversee the engagement with audience in comments on ads & content to make them more powerful & become standalone content objects 


  • Deep background in content creation and social media management.

    (5+ years)

  • Strong creative development and pitching skills with experience creating explosive moments that gets people excited and chattering online
  • Sense of hu mor .
  • Strong organizational, communication and reporting skills. 
  • Expert in content creation to be able to execute content yourself as well as direct teammates and freelancers. 
  • Excellent people management skills and the ability to develop and maintain productive & creative working relationships with internal partners.
  • Loves dogs (duh).

This is a full-time salaried position.

It can be remote full-time OR if you are located in NYC or Columbus, OH you are welcome to join on-site at either of our offices.
