Technical Writer & Illustrator

This is a Full-time position in Miamisburg, OH posted November 9, 2021.

Summary
Develops and maintains owner’s manuals and other product literature related to assembly, safety, maintenance and warranty.
Develop owner’s manuals for new products as needed.

Revises current manuals to improve
consumer ease of use, or to keep up to date with customer or legal requirements.

As appropriate, keeps apprised of the state-of-the-art instructions and manuals; applies the most advanced thinking to Huffy and United Wheels products.

Maintains digital library of all files.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Other duties may be assigned.
Revise current owner’s manuals and other documents such that consumers find the product easy to assemble to reduce consumer complaints and product returns related to documentation.
Revise current owner’s manuals to keep up with new customer requirements or government regulations.
Develop owner’s manuals and other instructional documentation for new product.
Review new products with Category Managers, Designers, and any other appropriate person.
Assemble and evaluate products to gain understanding of best assembly methods to share with consumer
Create assembly inserts for new accessories that are not shown in current owner’s manuals.
Sends out partial or complete manuals for translations as needed.
Develop and maintain digital library of graphic images and text modules to standardize content and reduce the risk of errors
Organize and maintain digital library of all finished owner’s manuals, assembly inserts and other documents on shared server (SharePoint) in a manner that allows easy access by all Huffy staff and factories.
Maintain a priority list of projects with deadlines
Meet regularly with Category Managers to learn of new projects that are being developed.

Education and/or Experience
Associate Degree in Technical Writing or equivalent experience with five years or more experience in the creation of manuals and (or) similar documents.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills
Microsoft Office experience including Outlook, Word, and_ Excel.

Knowledge of 3D CAD and other graphics software such as Cinema 4D, Polytrans, 3DVIA Composer, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite._
