CNC Machinist – Second Shift

Dayton Precision Aerospace (DPA) is seeking a qualified CNC Mill Operator to work on 2nd shift. We are a low volume production shop making details for aerospace, medical laboratory, and defense industries. Our equipment includes Hurco vertical machining centers, Okuma horizontal machining centers, Okuma mill-turn lathes, and a Samsung mill-turn lathe. Experience on any of these machines/controls in a definite plus. We are a team-oriented shop where our motto is Your Success is our Success.”

· Thorough knowledge of specific department equipment and their processes.

· Able to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.


· Setting production machinery for acceptable production processes and obtaining run approval.

· Analyzes machine, tool and equipment problems and makes basic repairs, as well as handling process maintenance.

· Perform repetitive and custom work where fixtures, machine stops, indexing devices, and machining tools are utilized to control critical tolerances and dimensions.

· Assure conformance to quality specifications visually or by using gauges.

· Effectively communicate with personnel at all levels.

· Meet production quantity and quality standards.

· Ensure safety guards and personal protective equipment are in place at all times.

· Follow and enforce work Instructions, procedures, and company policies.

Duties include:

• Setup and operate 3 and 4-axis CNC milling centers on variety of parts from very complex to simple details.

• Machining a variety of materials including mild steel, tool steels, plastics, alum, and exotic super alloys.

• Machine parts to print within tolerances allowed.

• Work one on one with managers on work instructions and processes.

• Ability to work off a schedule to ensure deliveries

• Maintain good housekeeping and preventative maintenance of all equipment and facilities.

• Maintain a positive attitude and team work environment.


• Exceptional setup skills.

• Hurco control experience preferred but will train.

• Attention to detail with a strong work ethic.

• Show up everyday ready to work scheduled hours.

• Basic machinist tools

• Able to read, write, and comprehend written and oral instructions

• Good understanding of blueprint reading and GD&T.

• Willingness to help and be part of a growing department
