Job Description
Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Engineering, oversee and manage the packaging development process, including the creation of packaging designs, development, and performance testing.
- Understand the physical characteristics of products, environmental and safety requirements, and types of materials and options available for packaging.
- Support manufacturing/distribution operations in day to day activities by providing solutions to increase packaging efficiency, reduce cost or eliminate quality problems.
- Support Marketing and Sales by developing packaging for new programs and promotions, which includes providing design alternatives, cost estimates and procurement of prototypes and coordination of package testing.
- Provide and maintain packaging information to insure accurate data is available to Moen customers.
- Coordinate the design and development of new product packaging and new packaging programs.
- Assist in the development, preparation and implementation of cost reductions through the evaluation of new packaging materials, methods or equipment.
- Investigate and respond to packaging related customer/consumer complaints.
- Coordinate Engineering, Marketing, Quality and Manufacturing packaging requirements with the Moen Materials Supply Team including Moen purchasing and Moen packaging suppliers.
- Work with manufacturing to ensure that packaging designs are optimized for the product assembly process.
- Develop and implement test plans to ensure that packaging meets all internal and external customer requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Packaging Science is required
- Experience is not required. Some prior experience in the packaging field, hardware or appliance industry is a plus.
- Prior knowledge of packaging processes, methods and applicable codes is a plus.
- Must be a team player who has the ability to work in a team environment.
- Must possess strong time management skills and be able to handle several projects at once.
- Position requires 5-10% travel.
