Thank you for considering a career at Mercy HealthShift/ScheduleFull Time, 36 hoursDay shiftWeekday, weekend, and holiday call coverage per departmental policy.Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of PositionUnder close supervision of a Registered Nurse, and according to established policies and procedures, performs various service duties and routine technical tasks in the surgery department, such as basic knowledge of sterile techniques, surgical instruments, and surgical equipment.

Maintains surgical areas and hallways in a clean and orderly condition.

Laser and ultrasoundexperience preferred.Essential Job FunctionsEssential Functions* Performs various duties necessary to prepare patients for surgery, such as, but not limited to: Understanding sterile field concept, positions patients (understanding of body mechanics), catheterizes patients, assists in moving heavy patients and/or equipment, performs pre-op shaving of patients and skin scrubs, holds limbs under sterile conditions while being prepped prior to surgery.* Assists in sterilizing equipment and maintains cleanliness of autoclaves and blanket warmers.* Maintains adequate supplies in surgery suites.* Assists with the transportation of patients on stretchers or beds and be alert to the patient’s condition.* Performs various errands such as transporting and checking specimens, blood, x-rays, patient’s valuables, etc.* Assists in cleaning surgery tables and surgery suites.* May relieve and assist in patient holding area, must be able to check blood pressures and vital signs, and provide proper identification.* Adheres to the standards and policies of the Corporate Responsibility Program, including the duty to comply with applicable laws and regulations, and reporting to designated Manager (or employee hotline) any suspected unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts or practices.* Adheres to all standards and policies regarding safety/patient safety initiatives.* Embraces the ABC’s of Mercy Culture in order to provide and promote excellent customer service for both internal and external customers.
