Mechanical Design Engineer II

Job Description:Huntsman’s Advanced Materials division is currently looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer II with emphasis on electro-mechanical and process engineering for its facility located in Merrimack, New Hampshire.The Mechanical Design Engineer will design, plan, and conduct research and/or development work on electro-mechanical projects, requiring the origination and application of new and unique manufacturing approaches related to the Company’s products. These products include, carbon nanotube yarns and related products such as felts, thermoelectric devices, and batteries.As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will:* Actively initiates the development of new materials processing technologies and engineering aspects of yarn production, carbon nanotube sheet production, post treatment engineering, composites both thermoset and epoxy, along with related nanostructures or other areas of the Company’s development activities as assigned.* Designs, develops and analyzes product designs which meet functional, cost, reliability, manufacturability and safety requirements, with the greatest possible design margins and in the shortest amount of time.* Maintains rigorous documentation of the design process for developing product and test specifications, data analysis, and test procedures for the research products to conform to the design control process as defined by ISO and Mil Spec guidelines, and Company QA procedures.* Works independently to make decisions related to composites processing in a timely manner according to existing milestone commitments.* Initiates new programs based on insight and creativity in consultation with management. Works with business development in support of new concepts.* Researches scientific literature relevant to innovative research and testing objectives.* Provides engineering and managerial oversight of junior engineers, technicians, interns or other support staff.* Supervises technicians and engineering staff and provides input to performance assessments.* Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.Requirements for This Role:* Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Process, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering, or another related technical field.* Minimum 5 years of industry experience in either manufacturing, electro-mechanical design, power train design and/or process development.* Software experience in SolidWorks is required.* Experience in design for manufacturing and assembly preferable.* Experience in process controls, gas and pressure sensors, electrical competency preferred.* Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.* Strong verbal communication and presentation skills.* Excellent technical writing skills.* Hands-on capability to develop and run experiments.* Proven ability to work in a team and to establish effective professional working relationships with peers across disciplines.Sponsorship now or in the future is not approved for this roleWhat can we offer you?Huntsman Corporation is a publicly traded global manufacturer and marketer of differentiated and specialty chemicals with 2019 revenues of approximately $7 billion.
