Research Analyst ( Hybrid)

1199SEIU Benefit and Pension Funds

This is a Contract position in Lorain, OH posted November 27, 2022.

The 1199SEIU Training & Employment Funds (TEF) provide post-secondary education and job training programs for over 125,000 unionized workers represented by 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East.

Our mission is to develop high quality training, placement and labor-management initiatives.

We also aim to develop the ability of union and management to problem-solve difficult issues and to create innovative healthcare solutions.

The goals of TEF’s Research & Policy Department are to: 1) Broaden TEF’s use of research and evaluation in program planning and delivery; 2) Measure and report outcomes of TEF initatives; 3)Advance TEF’s ability to communicate success and improve programs; 3) Leverage research to influence local and state policy; 4) Keep TEF and its stakeholders informed of emerging trends, innovations, policy, and best practices in healthcare, adult education, and workforce development; 5) Expand TEF’s influence as a thought leader.

Responsibilities Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analyses of TEF data; utilize TEF databases.

Develop data collection tools – surveys, interview and focus group guides.

Participate in the planning and implementation of research related to healthcare provider performance, regional workforce issues, training and adult education, quality and efficiency of care, and evaluation of labor /management initiatives in health care.

Research emerging trends – locally and nationally – that impact the health care industry workforce.

Provide syntheses of healthcare, workforce development, and adult education literature Analyze and synthesize information and create presentations, research briefs, case studies, and other materials to communicate trends and best practices to union and management staff and other stakeholders Develop and deliver training, and other capacity-building activities on data use, research, and evaluation methods Provide technical assistance, guidance, and research support to TEF staff and clients on data collection, evaluation planning, analysis, data related to performance improvement, and other research and evaluation-related areas of expertise Partner with other TEF staff to identify and develop systems of sharing best practices, innovations, and trends in healthcare that address quality and efficiency of care, job quality, and educational advancement Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management Qualifications Masters Degree in Public Health, Social Science, Health Policy, Research and Evaluation, or related area; or equivalent years of work experience required Minimum of four (4) years research experience required Basic skill level in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel required; experience with statistical analysis software required; SPSS preferred; knowledge of qualitative data analysis software (Atlas-ti) preferred Experience working in complex organizational environments with a high degree of effectiveness and innovative problem solving Experience with quantitative data management and analysis required Knowledge of evaluation methodologies required Knowledge of publicly available workforce, hospital, home care and nursing home-related data sources preferred Knowledge of applied research and process improvement preferred Exceptional writing and analytical skills Ability to work well independently and in a team environment Ability to prioritize competing demands with a commitment to excellence, accuracy, and strict attention to details As a condition of employment, we require staff to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and to provide documentation of receiving the Covid-19 Vaccine.
