Performs limited tests of specimens per provider order.

Assists providers and nurses with designated procedures.

Performs related secretarial/clerical duties.Formal Education Required:A.

Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.Experience and Training Required:A.

Three to five years working as a Medical AssistantB.

Experience in oncology is preferredOther Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:A.

Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignityB.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointC.

Must be self-directed and have strong attention to detailD.

Ability to effectively communicate with physicians, patients, and other hospital staffE.

Ability to collect samples (e.G., blood, throat cultures, etc.) and to perform limited tests of suchF.

Must maintain confidentiality of patient information in adherence with HIPAA guidelinesG.

Collaborates with Management Team and maintains confidentialityH.

Assumes accountability for demonstrated behaviors consistent with the customer service policyLevel of Physical Demands:A.

Heavy: Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or ten to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objectsB.
